Timmy 'Boomkat' John
Timmy started playing records at the age of 9 for family, parties and functions. His 1st paying gig was at the age of 12 at the Caribbean club (AKA The After Dark) in Reading. Through the 80s Timmy started playing soul and funk and set up 2 sound systems called Ladies of the 80s where he ruled the soul scene of Reading.

After this he started mixing acid house music in the late 80s and did the whole Rave thing. In the early 90s Timmy took his music abroad playing in Madrid and Hamburg. During this time he started working at the Record Basement in Reading and he had 2 residencies at the Holy Rooms, he also played the Mud Club at Bagleys in London,

Timmy then went abroad again, this time to Amsterdam. His 1st gig there was at the Melkweg and then he became resident at the famous Roxy (before it burned down). He met DJ Groove Master Johnson and MC Spyder there and started up the Bubble Club at Paradise, he did this for 4 years. At the start of 2000 the Record Basement closed and Timmy took a break from the music for a year.

He then hooked up with Rob Savage, Roots (MC Spyders brother) and Ronnie back in Reading and they asked him to play for them at the Breakin Even nights. During this time he also started playing at Soul Revival at Bar Mango in Reading. He brought the funk soul vibe back to Reading along with a lot of old faces from the ladies of the 80s, he played there for 18 months. Timmy continues to play as a resident for Breakin Even.
